Exploring the stories hidden within humanity

My work is an exploration of the human condition — the emotions we experience, the stories we inherit, and the unseen battles that shape who we are.

I create art to question, challenge, and reveal. Through sculpture, oil painting, and mixed media, I transform complex ideas into visual narratives that invite reflection and conversation. Each piece begins with curiosity: a question about humanity, history, belief, identity, or the experiences that connect us all.

I believe that art has the ability to make the invisible visible.

The thoughts we hide, the struggles we endure, the memories we carry, and the emotions we cannot always express can all find a voice through creativity. My aim is not simply to represent a subject, but to explore the deeper layers beneath it — to understand the story behind the surface.

Art as storytelling

Research is at the heart of my creative process. I immerse myself in the history, symbolism, psychology, and mythology surrounding each concept before beginning the physical creation of a work.

Every detail has meaning.

Materials, textures, colours, and symbols become a language through which I communicate ideas. A sculpture is not simply a form; it is a collection of memories, emotions, and narratives brought together. A painting is not just an image; it is a moment of thought, a question, or a reflection of the world around us.

My work often explores the contrast between light and darkness — not as opposing forces, but as parts of the same human experience. Within pain there can be resilience, within chaos there can be understanding, and within darkness there can still be beauty.

Exploring the complexities of the mind

One of my most significant bodies of work, The Disorderly Demise of the Cerebral Cortex, explores the realities of mental health through seven sculptural portraits representing different psychological experiences.

This collection was created to challenge misconceptions and encourage empathy. Rather than focusing solely on diagnosis, the work explores the emotions, thoughts, fears, and inner worlds behind each condition.

Through symbolism and metaphor, I wanted viewers to look beyond the label and recognise the person.

Mental health affects millions of lives, yet so much of it remains unseen. By creating physical representations of these invisible experiences, I hope to open conversations and encourage greater understanding.

Examining morality and human nature

My Seven Deadly Sins Collection explores the timeless questions surrounding temptation, morality, and human behaviour.

Although the seven sins originate from historical and religious teachings, my interpretation examines their relevance in contemporary society. Pride, envy, greed, lust, wrath, gluttony, and sloth are not simply ancient concepts — they are reflections of human impulses that continue to influence our choices and relationships today.

Through this collection, I explore the contradictions within humanity: our capacity for compassion and cruelty, creation and destruction, humility and arrogance.

Rather than portraying these themes as simple divisions between good and evil, I am interested in the complexity of choice and the reasons behind our actions.

Honouring heritage and preserving stories

As a Welsh artist, my surroundings and cultural heritage have a profound influence on my work.

The landscapes, legends, and history of Wales provide an endless source of inspiration. Through sculpture and painting, I seek to celebrate the stories that have shaped generations and preserve them through contemporary art.

My monumental sculpture Emrys — The Great Welsh Dragon embodies this connection between past and present. Inspired by Welsh mythology and national identity, the work brings together craftsmanship, symbolism, and storytelling to celebrate the people, traditions, and history of Wales.

For me, heritage is not something frozen in the past. It is a living story that continues to evolve.

Creating connections through creativity

The greatest achievement an artwork can have is to create a connection.

A piece may evoke a memory, inspire a question, challenge a belief, or allow someone to see an experience from a different perspective. Art has the ability to create understanding where words sometimes fail.

My work is an invitation to look deeper — beyond appearances, beyond assumptions, and beyond the obvious.

Every artwork carries a story.

My purpose is to uncover those stories, give them form, and share them with the world.
